About The Activity
Lombok is a unique and interesting island that is growing in popularity. If you’re looking for something different to do, we have an interesting experience for you. Join us and experience teaching English to children in remote areas of Lombok. You will have fun and share something special with them.
Teaching English in remote areas of Lombok is more than just learning English. It is about cultural exchange and connecting with the people you meet. For example, in some of the less affluent areas of Indonesia, children will not be able to go to school without a paid teacher. This is not only an opportunity for a better future for each child (who may have never received a formal or informal education before) but also for their family members and society as a whole.
What You'll Do
So we will visit Gili Asahan in West Lombok. An island that takes about 2 hours drive from the city of Mataram by car, and then crosses about 10 minutes to the island. On this island, there is an elementary school with not so many students. The students of this school are the children of residents on Asahan Island.
We will meet with them and then hold an English class for these children for approximately 2 hours. Usually, the things that are learned are the names of objects, how to introduce yourself or fun games.
After finishing being an English teacher, we will enjoy lunch at Gili Asahan Eco Lodge. This is a resort used for tourists to stay. Relax while feasting your eyes on the beauty of Gili Asahan.
This activity is indeed designed to feel the experience of being a teacher for children in remote places while enjoying the beauty and attractions of that place. However, if you feel interested in teaching them for a longer time. We can help you to prepare it.
Besides enjoying the beauty of the island, we can also swim and dive. Or, you can also enjoy traveling around the nearest island on a resident’s motor boat.
When the time comes in the afternoon, we will get ready to go back home and leave the island.
